Oliver’s Vegetables is a colourful children’s book that is particularly appropriate for young children whose parents do not have easy access to a garden.

“Finish up Oliver” said his mum,
“Or we will miss the bus.”
“Can’t we walk to Grandpa’s house?”
Asked Oliver.
“No” said his mother. “It’s too far.
“Hurry up!”

The best thing about Grandpa’s house was the wonderful garden.
“I grow all my own vegetables,” Grandpa said proudly”

Oliver will only eat chips and will not eat vegetables. However, grandpa says that Oliver must find the potatoes if he is to eat chips.

The result is that Oliver can not find the potatoes. Oliver instead has to eat his way through all of the vegetables in the garden. To Oliver’s surprise he enjoys his vegetables and it is only as he is leaving that he finds the potatoes in the garden.

You are able on this website to download the Free Green Colouring pages now. These colouring pages will help your children or grandchildren learn where different vegetables are grown. There are colouring pages of carrots, potatoes, peas, swedes, brussel sprouts, runner beans, and different kinds of fruit.

The free colouring pages also have information about the season and month when the vegetable is planted and picked. Vegetables which are in season do not need to be transported half way round the world.
