My Two Grannies is a children’s book that is particularly relevant to Great Britain in 2009. The population of country is becoming more multiracial by the day. Floella Benjamin is the author of this thoughtful children’s book.
“Alvina had two grannies who she loved with all her heart.
They were called Granny Vero and Granny Rose.
Granny Vero was born in the Caribbean island of Trinidad
And Granny Rose was born in the Yorkshire town of Barnsley.
Now they both lived in the same city as Alvina and her parents.
As you can imagine the two grannies have very different perspectives on life. Granny Rose played brass band music and Granny Vero’s favourite music was Calypso and steelpan.
This children’s book illustrates the differences in the lives of both Grannies. The granddaughter, Alvina loves the different experiences in both households.
Everything changed when Alvina’s parents went on holiday. Both grannies wanted to have Alvina to stay. After a long argument between the grannies it was only resolved by both Grannies staying at Alvina’s house while her parents were away.
Alvina finds a solution to stop the two Grannies arguing between themselves. Once this happened both of the Grannies got along famously. The three of them had lots of fun. Both the Grannies made Alvina special. Despite, a number of very good lessons about life in this children’s book My Two Grannies is evaluated as Not Green.
