The Grinch who stole Christmas has become a modern Christmas classic children’s story that questions the commercialism of Christmas and teaches children that Christmas isn’t just about the presents
and the food.
The Grinch hate’s Christmas and decides on a mean plan to stop Christmas from coming.
“Every Who
Down in Who-ville
Liked Christmas a lot…
But the Grinch
Who lived just north of Who-Ville,
Did NOT!”
Disguising himself as Santa and his dog Max as a reindeer he sleighs down to Who-ville in the dead of the night and steals all the Who’s Christmas presents. When morning comes he is incredibly pleased, because he believes he has stopped Christmas from coming. But much to his surprise his plan doesn’t work because Christmas comes after all despite his efforts.
“It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes or bags!”
And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.
“Maybe Christmas… perhaps… means a little bit more!”
This realization makes the Grinch’s small heart grow three sizes bigger and he discovers the real joy of the Christmas season and joins the Who’s in celebrating the festive occasion.
The Grinch who stole Christmas is one of the most famous books by Dr Seuss. And the heart warming message about the real meaning of Christmas is still as relevant today as it was when it was first written 50 years ago.
